Laager 18 recently enjoyed an unforgettable long weekend getaway filled with everything that makes camping life so special — friendship, laughter, great food, exciting competitions, and memories that will be talked about for years to come.
The adventure began even before the official weekend kicked off, with eager campers arriving early to soak up every extra moment outdoors. Of course, no camping trip would be complete without a little chaos, and Tim made sure the weekend started with a laugh after accidentally forgetting Ma-Tim’s tent at home. Thankfully, a quick rescue mission saved the day and Tent City was soon fully operational once again.
Friday brought a festive atmosphere as Sandra celebrated her birthday in true camping style, treating everyone to delicious curry beef sosaties and freshly made rooster brood around the fire. As temperatures dropped in the evenings, the campfires grew larger, creating the perfect setting for storytelling, laughter, and warm memories shared under the stars.
The weekend also featured plenty of friendly competition, especially on the fishing front, where Tim eventually claimed the fishing trophy after some determined encouragement from Gillian. Campers embraced the outdoors completely, from climbing towering sand dunes with energetic dogs to cooling off in the pool during the beautiful weather.
Entertainment continued with games, laughter, and culinary creativity as campers tested their skills making braai pies and competing in word games that kept everyone entertained throughout the weekend. Special milestones were also celebrated, including the Ramsays receiving their impressive 100 Outings Disk — a wonderful achievement within the camping community.
The weekend ended with trophy presentations, warm welcomes to new members, and heartfelt appreciation for the incredible camping family that continues to make every outing so memorable. Although Monday arrived too soon, campers packed up knowing they were leaving with unforgettable memories and already looking forward to the next adventure together.
